Whole House Humidifiers Albuquerque

Whole house humidifiers are designed to circulate humidity through your air handling system. Because swamp coolers naturally provide humidity to your home, humidifiers are not installed alongside swamp coolers. However, if you need more moisture in the air in the winter, a whole house humidifier can be installed for your furnace, whether you have a swamp cooler or not.

How do you maintain a whole house humidifier?

Luckily, the Aprilaire® whole house humidifiers installed by TLC is nearly maintenance free. The only maintenance is a filter change. Depending on the hardness of your water, you may need to change your filter every 1 – 3 years. If you are a TLC Preventive Maintenance Member, a humidifier inspection is included with your furnace or AC inspection.

Other brands or types of whole house humidifiers may require more maintenance. Consult your TLC HVAC technician to determine what maintenance your humidifier needs.

It is unlikely that a whole house humidifier will cause mold in your home. Dangerous mold grows where there is darkness and excessive moisture. 80% humidity or higher is considered excessive. Your whole house humidifier will maintain humidity at 30-35% so mold shouldn’t be an issue.

A whole house humidifier is a stand-alone unit installed near your AC or furnace air handler. It introduces humidity into your air system. There are two ways humidifiers can do this:

• Water injection
• Steam injection

A whole house humidifier is installed close to your AC or furnace. If you have a boiler room, that’s the perfect place for your humidifier. No matter where your unit is located, the only requirement is that there’s enough room for it and that its within 10 feet of the air handler.
